Unless the applicant is a Tanzanian native who lives abroad all applicants must be a resident of Tanzania for three consecutive years. To adopt from Tanzania, the applicant must be at least 25 years old and 21 years older than the child. In 2011, two Tanzanian children were adopted by citizens of the United States.
